The ENG YNPL Northern Conference returned inside to the Wright Robinson Sports Centre and it was business as usual for our top teams Chester NC U12 A & Ellesmere Port Youth U13 who carried on their winning starts to the season and remained top of the league. Kingston NC got their first win in the U13 league and Wyre NC U13 returned to winning ways against Chester NC B.

U12 Review

Grangetown NC U12 22 Vs Saddleworth NC 34

Saddleworth NC continued recorded their second win a row against Grangetown NC and kept the pressure on Chester NC at the top of the league. The game started well for both sides, but Saddleworth were capitalising on the turnovers and took a healthy five point lead into the second quarter.  The game continued on the same path with the Saddleworth increasing their lead by each quarter and their GK doing a great job in shutting down the tall Grangetown NC Goal Attack. In the end a solid performance from both sides who are now fighting at different ends of the table.

Chester NC A 36 Vs Grangetown NC U11 16

Top vs bottom and gigantic task for the young Grangetown NC U11 side. The young Grangetown NC U11 team applied themselves well in the game with their GA making the Chester NC GK work hard through-out the tie. Chester NC got better in each quarter and recorded a good win to remain top, but the this game will be remembered for the amazing shots Ava scored for Grangetown NC U11.

Chester NC B 29 Vs Ellesmere Port Youth 13

Good competitive tie against two local rivals. Chester NC B started brightly and dominated the opening quarters, with Ellesmere Port struggling to get the ball into the final third due to good defending from Chester. The Chester shooters were in confident mood through-out the game with some exceptional shots from distance which made the Ellesmere Port task even harder, but they did finish strong and record their best quarter in the final quarter of the game.

M&A NC 6 Vs Macclesfield NC 38

A really tough game for the young M&A side who started well but faded through-out the tie against a good Macclesfield side. Macclesfield will be hoping now to push the top teams in the group and qualify for the Grand Finals in July.

U13 Review

Ellesmere Port NC 42 Vs Grangetown NC 22

A superb game played at a high intensity through-out. Ellesmere Port flew out of the blocks and shocked the Grangetown NC side with an intensity to their play that must be seen to be believed. After Grangetown settled down after the first quarter they started to match the Ellesmere Port side and recorded a second quarter win which showed their quality as a team. What ever was said at half time only made Ellesmere Port crank up the intensity they play with and Grangetown NC were struggling to cope and what didn't help was the shooters were starting to miss more frequently which gave the impression of a one sided tie when in fact the match play on court suggested otherwise. In the end a good game with Ellesmere Port one step closer to the Grand Finals and league title.

Kingston NC 30 Vs DNA NC 25

This was the game of the day with both sides providing a highly entertaining display for everyone in attendance and on the live stream. Kingston NC started the stronger of the sides with their GS & GA looking sharp and consistent under the posts. At half time Kingston were five points ahead and it looked like a comprehensive win was on the cards, but DNA started chipping away at their lead with some incredible defensive work and ruthless shooting, which levelled the scores going into the last quarter. We had the finish we always crave at ENG with Kingston holding their nerve to take the win.

Chester NC B 13 Vs Wyre NC 43

A comprehensive win for Wyre NC who returned to the league after a long lay off. The Wyre NC GS was a handful the whole game for Chester who just couldn't cope with the physical presence of the Wyre NC side. A good win for Wyre NC who will now be hoping to push forward and challenging the top teams in the league.
